Mother Shipton ~ Facts, Myths & Mysteries

Welcome to an innovative, comprehensive examination of the history and prophecies of Mother Shipton, celebrated by some as the 16th century's female Nostradamus of England, questioned by others as a fraud, her very existence hanging in the balance.

Mother Shipton

This progressively evolving web site will provide evidence highly supportive of this remarkable woman's genuine existence as a trusted prophetess of her time, though she may not have been born in a magical cave, nor can we truly know if her name was "Ursula Soothtell" (or any variation thereof), contrary to popular reports.

Through careful, objective, enlightened study of the resources available, a much clearer picture of Mother Shipton will be revealed, including an in-depth analysis of not only what she is most likely to have actually said, but the mystery surrounding even those words many have insisted she did not say at all.

What we can discern about her life will be examined in detail, seeing beyond the many sensationalistic myths surrounding her past, contrived by those either proclaiming or maligning her alleged legendary "witch-like" attributes. In the process, we will begin to envision the real Mother Shipton who once walked upon the Earth, not a caricature, and not a fraud.

When considering that the real Mother Shipton may not have had quite as fanciful a history (yet extraordinary by any measure), or perhaps did not actually say everything attributed to her, we will explore the eerie precognitive mystery of some of those words, including those considered by historians to be forgeries. We will also critically scrutinize the alleged forgeries to determine just how logically and historically justified is their alleged fabrication.

Shrouded by controversy and misconstrued by many, the inspiration of Mother Shipton's intuitive voice is reaching out to us across time, the feminine expression of the Divine re-emerging on the brink of 2012, assisting us to look at prophecy itself in an entirely new light.
